Dr. Honeycutt was raised in Huntsville, AL and attended Birmingham Southern College where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Biology and graduated with Honors. The then attended medical school and completed his neurology residency at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. He then moved to Orlando to join Neurology Associates, P.A. where he achieved and has maintained his Neurology Board Certification as well as continuously evaluated and treated patients with all neurology disorders.

After joining N.A.P.A., Dr. Honeycutt began building his outpatient neurology practice while also performing in-patient hospital consultations/rounds at multiple Florida Hospital (now Advent Health) campuses near his office. He served for several years as the chairman of the Florida Hospital Department of Neurology and co-founded and was co-director of the Florida Hospital Smart Unit (Stroke Management and Rehabilitation Team) where he performed patient management and teaching rounds for several years. He was also instrumental in t he development of the Florida Hospital Neuroscience Institute and served as its initial Vice Chairman/Chairman.

Although Dr. Honeycutt is highly qualified and has been actively treating all neurological disorders for the past three decades, he also has a strong subspecialty interest within Neurology, Multiple Sclerosis, which led him to co-found the MS Center of Greater Orlando within Neurology Associates, P.A. Since Dr. Honeycutt also had a strong desire to perform clinical research and thereby to participate in the approval of new and improved treatments for M.S., he developed a clinical research department that has been privileged to participate in the phase III pivotal clinical trials for every new FDA -Approved M.S. treatment for the past two decades with Dr. Honeycutt acting as the primary investigator.
